SOD Squad's roots go back to the 1970s, when the Warpinski family started a small sod farm outside Chicago, Illinois.
In the 1980s, Tom Warpinski and his brother Bill expanded the family business to Maryland, establishing Central Sod Farms. Both operations continued to grow through the 1990s and into the thriving businesses they are today.
Jack Warpinski, a third-generation sod farmer, grew up in the business and now operates Central Sod Farms of Maryland.
Like many sod farms, Central Sod relied on paper, pencils, and constant communication between the office, cutting crews, and delivery drivers to keep everything running.
As the farm grew, so did the challenges.
What started as a simple tool to communicate changing pallet counts from the office to the cutting crew quickly evolved into something much bigger.
SOD Squad was born.
Built through real-world trial and error on a working sod farm, the software expanded to manage customer orders, harvest schedules, deliveries, invoicing, and much more.
In 2022, Jack began licensing SOD Squad to other sod farms, bringing the same tools developed at Central Sod to operations across the country.
And we've been improving it ever since.
